The Ultimate Summer Packing List for Disney: Stay Cool and Comfortable

Visiting Disney during the summer is a magical experience, but the heat and crowds can make it challenging. Packing the right items will ensure you stay cool, comfortable, and prepared for anything. Here’s your ultimate summer packing list for a fun and hassle-free Disney adventure.

1. Clothing and Accessories

Light and Breathable Clothing

  • T-shirts and Tank Tops: Choose light-colored, moisture-wicking fabrics to stay cool.
  • Shorts and Skirts: Opt for breathable materials like cotton or linen. (Try these; https://amzn.to/3KcrBux)
  • Sundresses: Comfortable and stylish for a day at the parks. (This non-tight sundress is perfect for humid filled long days at Orlando;https://amzn.to/4buUHkR)
These shorts are moisture wicking, flexible and cooling.
Pair with a short sleeve white shirt, a tank top or a sports bra and remain cool all day.

Comfortable Footwear

Kids should also wear breathable socks to avoid blisters.
These shoes are great for you and your little ones.
  • Sneakers or Walking Shoes: Supportive shoes are a must for long days of walking. (I recommend these well rated croc dupes for children; https://amzn.to/4dRjD7F and these breathable yet stylish shoes for adults; https://amzn.to/4bwRKQu )
  • Sandals: Choose comfortable, walking-friendly sandals for a change.
  • Extra Socks: Pack a few extra pairs in case your feet get wet. (Probably the most important piece of advice I give everyone going to Disney; I will always recommend these breathable and affordable pack from Hanes; https://amzn.to/44Yo4JM)

Hats and Sunglasses

  • Sunglasses: Protect your eyes from UV rays with a good pair of sunglasses. (These are my fave; affordable, dark and lightweight: https://amzn.to/4bUL0M3)
  • Wide-Brimmed Hat or Cap: Essential for keeping the sun off your face.
These are not only affordable but super cute as well.

Swimwear

A cover up will be needed inside the resort, away from the pools so make sure to have handy so you dont have to run back and forth to your room.
  • Cover-Up: Easy to throw on over your swimsuit for a quick transition. (This cute one will keep you cool and stylish; https://amzn.to/4bMQcl6)
  • Swimsuit: Many Disney resorts have fantastic pools, so don’t forget your swimwear.

2. Sun Protection

Sunscreen

  • Broad-Spectrum Sunscreen: Choose a high SPF and reapply throughout the day. Don’t forget to bring a travel-size version for easy application. (Aveeno’s Protect and Hydrate is amazing, and coming from experience it’s especially great for those with eczema and psoriases; https://amzn.to/3VdSpAD)
This is a godsend for those with sensitive skin types. Tried and tested by me.

Lip Balm with SPF

Do not use aquaphor in direct sunlight as it can severely burn your lips. Instead use this all organic and affordable option.
  • Lip Balm: Protect your lips from the sun’s rays with a lip balm that includes SPF. (This three pack from Jack Black ensures you, your partner and your child are all protected https://amzn.to/3UWbXIH)

Lightweight UV Protection Clothing

  • UV-Blocking Shirt: Consider packing a lightweight, long-sleeve shirt with UV protection for extra sun safety.

3. Hydration and Cooling

Cute, lightweight and practical. You can refill these around the parks for free at the water fountains.
This fan is a life changer, i dont think i would survive the florida heat without it. I also use it in my day to day life for my skincare and walks.
  • Reusable Water Bottle: Stay hydrated by refilling at water fountains and quick-service restaurants. (I opt for a 12 oz that fits comfortably in my sling bag but also keeps my water ice cold; https://amzn.to/3WPcpei)
  • Cooling Towels: These can be a lifesaver on hot days. Wet them, wring them out, and drape around your neck for instant relief.
  • Handheld Fan: A battery-operated fan or misting fan can help you stay cool while waiting in lines. (For the price you truly cant beat this small one, it lasted me an entire day at hollywood studios in 97 degree weather on the highest setting; https://amzn.to/3Xeawbp)

4. Health and Safety

First Aid Kit

  • Mini First Aid Kit: Include band-aids, antiseptic wipes, pain relievers, and any personal medications. A small one such as this one will do great for those tiny accidents or blisters, https://amzn.to/44Xsbpq
  • Moleskin: Consider buying moleskin for blister prone feet. This is my ultimate weapon, place these babies on spots you frequently get blisters and you’ll be set for the entire day; these are my personal favorite: https://amzn.to/3UVyepV.
Again, if you’re traveling with kids, I so recommend this small kit.

Hand Sanitizer and Wipes

Think sticky ice cream sandwhiches, stroller snacks and diaper disasters. Trust me, get it.
  • Hand Sanitizer: Keep your hands clean with travel-size hand sanitizer. I forgot to bring one the last time, the hassle of finding bathrooms to wash hands before eating was too much to ever make the mistake again.
  • Antibacterial Wipes: Useful for cleaning hands and surfaces. These by Boogie are great for delicate toddler hands and icky surfaces; https://amzn.to/3QY5rQc

5. Tech and Entertainment

Portable Charger

  • Power Bank: Keep your phone and other devices charged with a portable charger. These will never fail you, with ultimate battery power and longevity there’s no need to look elsewhere. These held so well, my partner and I only shared his to charge his iphone and mine to full percent! https://amzn.to/4axYhJv
Buy one to ensure you can always stay checking the My Disney Experience app to stay updated on wait times and more.

Phone Accessories

  • Phone Case with Lanyard: Keep your phone handy and safe with a case that includes a lanyard.
  • Waterproof Phone Case: Protect your phone on water rides or during sudden summer showers.

Camera

  • Compact Camera or GoPro: Capture magical moments with a lightweight camera. Aesthetic shots with a camcorder or digital camera!

6. Snacks and Meals

Non-Perishable Snacks

  • Snack Ideas: Pack easy-to-carry snacks like granola bars, nuts, or dried fruit to keep your energy up throughout the day.

Reusable Cutlery and Straws

  • Eco-Friendly Cutlery: Consider bringing reusable utensils and straws for a more sustainable trip.

7. Bags and Carriers

Backpack or Sling Bag

Super cute, comfy and comes in different colors!
  • Daypack: A small, comfortable backpack or sling bag to carry your essentials without weighing you down. This one from amazon is my go to, dont let the price fool you, this bag is durable and tough enough to withstand all the tugs and falls that happens during the day! https://amzn.to/4dY1Mfa

Fanny Pack or Belt Bag

  • Belt Bag: Perfect for keeping your valuables close and easily accessible.

8. Extras

Autograph Book and Pen

  • Autograph Book: If you’re planning to meet characters, don’t forget an autograph book and pen. Tip; buy one from a disney store at the entrance, that way you can use it that same day as well as for your other parks.

Poncho or Light Rain Jacket

  • Poncho: Summer showers are common in Florida, so a lightweight poncho can be very handy. Avoid buying at the park as they can be severely overpriced.

Park Maps and Itinerary

  • Printed Maps and Schedule: While the Disney app is incredibly useful, having a physical map and itinerary can be helpful in case your phone battery dies.

Refillable Mist Spray Bottle

  • Mist Bottle: Fill it with water and use it to cool off on hot days. While you could buy a cheap one on amazon, I quite enjoy the themed ones at Disney as they make excellent practical souvenir gifts.
This Star Wars themed spray bottle retailed for $40 in Hollywood Studios

Conclusion

With this comprehensive summer packing list, you’ll be well-prepared to tackle the heat and crowds while enjoying the magic of Disney. Remember to stay hydrated, protect yourself from the sun, and keep comfortable with the right clothing and accessories. Have a magical summer adventure at Disney!
